About Our Beliefs

This page is divided into two sections. The first section is about our views of a Christian model of human sexuality, and the second section is about our core beliefs of the Christian faith.

Christian Sexuality

Christian sexuality is a Christian view of human sexuality. It is a set of beliefs and principles about how Christian believers should live their lives with specific emphasis on important factors of the design and intentions for human sexuality when viewed according to the glory of God’s intention in the creation of humanity and human sexuality as excellent. Men and women are created equally and are intended to have equal roles in church and society except solely in the case of woman’s unique sexual capability to bear children.

Male Sexuality

Man is created in the image of God. He is created as distinctly different from woman only in terms of his sexuality. Man’s intended role in sexual terms is to either live a pure upright celibate single life, or to enter into holy matrimony and live a pure upright life of service to his wife and family especially in the role of fatherhood, helping to build a family unit through procreating and raising children.

Female Sexuality

Woman is created in the image of God. She is created as distinctly different from man only in terms of her sexuality. Woman’s intended role in sexual terms is to either live a pure upright celibate single life, or to enter into holy matrimony and live a pure upright life of service to her husband and family especially in the role of motherhood, helping to build a family unit through procreating, bearing and raising children.

Intersexuality

Medical science recognises that a percentage of humans suffer from medical conditions that cause them to have a sexuality that is a mixture of both male and female. Each intersex person is to be encouraged and supported in the development of their own individual understanding about their sexuality in the light of God’s truth and their ability to live as either a single person or to enter into holy matrimony and/or build a family unit.

Sexual Intercourse

Sexual intercourse is to be practiced exclusively by adults within the confines of the union of holy matrimony between husband and wife and all times with mutual respect, submission and consent. The form and purpose of sexual intercourse is to be solely determined between the husband and wife in full reverence of God’s glory and revelation.

Masturbation

Masturbation is a spiritual gift given for the purposes of sexual devotion, sexual development and sexual discipline, when practiced by Christian adults or adolescents, men or women, in a private personal session of their choosing. Masturbation serves to help Christians develop their knowledge of their physical sexuality, to receive godly affirmation of their sexuality against adverse challenges and situations, and to manage their sex drives in a way that enhances their ability to live pure upright lives of singleness or holy matrimony and family life.

Sex Education

It is the role of all godly parents to provide their children with age-appropriate sex education especially during adolescence. Sex education should emphasis the importance of sexual discipline, the role of masturbation in developing physical sexuality during adolescence, and the maintenance of singleness, celibacy and sexual purity.

Theology of Sexuality

The primary theology of sexuality that this site endorses is that of Christian egalitarianism. This sites denounces and repudiates the theology of Christian complementarianism which teaches falsehoods and mistruths about the sexuality of men and women and renders women sexually subservient to men.

Core Beliefs of the Christian Faith

  • The Bible is God’s inspired Word to all people. It is therefore completely truthful and provides guidance for our everyday lives.
  • God is a triune being consisting of three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Although they serve different functions, each is equal in power and authority. God is eternal, always has been, and always will be.
  • God is omnipotent and omnipresent, all knowing, unchanging, fully worthy to be trusted and utterly holy. In Him we live and move and have our being. God is good, loving, compassionate and faithful to His people and His promises.
  • Jesus Christ is fully human and fully God. He is the only way to be fully reconciled to God. He lived a perfect blameless life so that He could be the substitutionary atonement for all of our sins. In resurrection he defeated death so that His people can live with the promise of eternal life.
  • The Holy Spirit assures us of our relationship with Jesus Christ through His presence and he guides us in all truth and exalts Jesus. He is the convicter of sin, comforts us, grants us spiritual gifts for service in the church and makes us more like Jesus.
  • Each human person is created for eternal existence, either separated from God in Hell or unified with God in Heaven after his/her life on earth. Unrepentant sinful living is the means by which we become eternally separated from God; His gift of salvation and forgiveness assures us of eternal glory ruling and reigning with Him.
  • Human people are created in God’s image and are the supreme objects of His creation. Humans were created to be in fellowship with God but became separated from Him through sin and disobedience. Humanity cannot aspire to right relationship with God through their own effort, but only through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ upon the cross of Calvary. Every human person is created completely uniquely and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
  • The blood of Jesus Christ shed upon the cross of Calvary possesses the sole means of salvation through forgiveness of sin. Salvation is the process by which people instigate faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection as wholly sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a free gift from God that no person can earn from their own works.
  • The Church is the body of Christ and is made up of believers who engage and participate fully in the sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and believers’ baptism by full immersion. Each member of Christ’s body participates in a local assembly that upholds and propagates the teachings of Jesus and obeys all of his commands and fulfils the Great Commission by taking the Gospel message to the world. The intention is to work in love and unity towards the ultimate superior purpose of glorifying Christ.
